Beecham Augustas Murphy 79, of Hartford CT. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2014 with his devoted wife of 43 years, Norma by his side. Beecham was born in Saint Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies, son of the late Vernal and Zatela Murphy.

Beecham “Uncle Murphy” as he was well known by close family and friends, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Beecham was a retired Machine Operator for over 40 years with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 1415 in New York City.  He was an active member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church. He attended dance recitals, father-granddaughter dances, baseball, tennis, basketball, and football games with his children and grandchildren. Beecham enjoyed gardening, wrestling, and baseball (favorite team New York Yankees). Beecham was reliable and a person to count on. He was the shoulder to lean on in a time of need. He loved his family and was loved by his family and friends.

Beecham is survived by his siblings, Selvin “Bunny”, Easton, and Minerva “Mini” Louett, Errol and Donna, Kathleen “Faye”, Myrtle, Lillith “Lil”, Byll, Enza, Nigel, and Annie; Sisters in-law- Winifred “Molly” Bennett, Cynthia Murray, Joan Bremmer.

Children, Leroy and Jackie Murphy, Patricia Elaine Walker, Andrea “Pat” Morris, Patrick “Lance” and Madge Murphy, Roxanne Ellis and Bruce Denby, Charmaine Murphy, Donald “Mickey” and Annolyn Smith; grandchildren Sheldon, Kimesha, Antwan, Darren, Jamahl, Anasia, Marvin “Tooka”, Syncear, Javaun, Jahkai Zuri, Bryson, Zhia, and great grandchildren Geoffrey Jr., Jazz’min, AJ, Sydnee; and host of relatives, and close friends. Predeceased by his eldest brother Dandy and grandson Geoffrey.

Saturday June 7, 2014, Calling hours will begin at 8:30am and service to follow at 10am Crossroads Community Cathedral 1492 Silver Lane East Hartford CT. Burial Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road Bloomfield CT. Repast to follow at Family Worship Center 650 Blue Hills Ave Hartford CT.
