Ykeema Johnson Obituary

Ykeema T. Johnson, 31, departed this life and was given her angel wings on Thursday, April 30, 2020.  Her final days were spent surrounded by family, staff and friends of Bristol Adult Resource Center.  Ykeema had touched many lives in some special way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Ykeema was born on October 27, 1988 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the late Mercede Johnson where she was first raised by the late Carrie Sanders and Martha Butler who took exceptional care of her.  Ykeema then moved to Connecticut in 1997 at the tender age of 9.  While in Connecticut she resided with her Johnson family where she was raised, cared for, loved and nurtured.  Ykeema loved to sing, dance, and she was great at it, she also loved when you sang to her.  Ykeema also had a passion for fashion and dreamed of being a fashion designer and her favorite color was purple.  She had a sassy attitude and loved to flirt and tell you all about yourself.  Ykeema graduated from South Windsor High School in 2008. Ykeema had a very infectious smile and those who met her, couldn’t help but to smile. Ykeema's favorite TV shows were Martin, The Parker’s, and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.  Ykeema was a strong, beautiful young woman.

Ykeema leaves behind a sister, Taleda Brown (wife D’Atra) two nephews, Xavier Phillips, Jr and Trevon Marion, niece, Taliyah Marion all of Cleveland, MS, and another niece, Jasmine Stewart of Jonestown, MS and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Vernell Johnson, sister Vernell Johnson (TOLU)

Special acknowledgement to Mrs. Monica Lindsay who travelled from Mississippi to Connecticut and was like a sister to her. Special blessings to Ms. Martha Johnson and Mrs. Barbara Johnson-Taylor who assisted in raising and loving Ykeema until her passing. Thank you also to BARC (Bristol Adult Resource Center)for your wonderful care of Ykeema.
