Velma Orene Birt

Velma Birt, 86, of Hartford, CT passed away at home surrounded by family. She was born in Fort Gaines, GA to the late Pharris Samuel and Charlie Bell (Burnett ) Samuel.
Velma graduated from Speight High School in Fort Gaines, GA. She worked at Pratt & Whitney until she retired. She was a long standing member of Bethel AME Church. She was a member of the Caring Committee and Treasurer of Hartford's Northeast Little League.

Velma was a very caring and loving person. At any given time all were welcome in her home.Velma loved to garden, shop, cook and bake.

Velma leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter and caretaker Renee Armour-Birt of Hartford CT, Three sons  Derrick & Vernon Hargrove of Windsor CT, George (Brenda) Hargrove of Edgewood MD, Step Daughter Valadia Birt-Bachelor of Tampa FL, Two Step Sons Elliott Birt III of Tampa FL, Kendall Crowe of Hartford CT, Sisters Louise Woods & Melvin Edwards of Hartford CT, Brothers Walter (Gloria) Samuel and Leon (Mary) Samuel of Hartford CT.  Grandsons and Caregivers Nasir & Malik Armour of Hartford CT in total 15 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,  special friends including Mr. & Mrs. Charles Bowman and Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Kelley.

She is predeceased by her husband Brother Elliott Birt Jr, A son David Hargrove and Brother Pharris Samuel, Jr.
