Valerie Duncan Obituary

Valerie Marie Duncan, 53, of New Britain, CT, daughter of Reverend Henry Duncan Sr. and Patricia Duncan departed this life on March 17, 2024.

Valerie was born on April 30th, 1970 in Middletown, CT.  A graduate of Middletown High School, class of 88.  She obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant license in 1989.  Valerie worked for multiple Nursing Homes until settling at Autumn Lake Healthcare in 2007 until 2024.

Besides being a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt, she extended her love to many people she encountered throughout the years.  She was host to many people in need of a place to stay, without question.  Valerie always made sure you knew you were loved.  She always made sure each conversation rather it was a verbal conversation or text, ended with an “I Love You.”

Besides her parents, Valerie leaves to cherish her memories three children, Tayloria (Courtney) Duncan, Shequila Duncan of Middletown, CT and Shaquanna Duncan of New Britain, CT;  three siblings, Henry Jr (Tracie) Duncan, Waterbury, CT, Rachel Duncan and Leah (Terrell Sr.) Johnson both of Middletown, CT.  Five grandchildren, Xavier Jones, Kaiden Pringle, Cairo Haye, Noah Haye and Kali Pringle of Middletown, CT.  Two godchildren, Terrell Johnson II and Taliyah Johnson, Middletown, CT.  Nieces and nephews, Kayla, Alex, Tanesha, Jalen, Jazer, Trevahn, Quentin, Neriah, and Teyanna. Two great nephews, Azhan and Zyier. Two great nieces, Heaven Rae and Aria Jade. Two adopted nieces, Denise and Lakreshia along with aunts, uncles, a host of cousins and friends.

Valerie was predeceased by her daughter, Shakira Ke’Aysia Duncan.  Paternal grandparents Kit and Dora Duncan.  Maternal grandparents Daniel and Ruth Fountain.

We the family with heavy hearts, bow our heads in humble submission to the Will of the All Knowing, Loving, Kind, Wise God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things.

We are today comforted by the words of Our Lord in Revelations 21:4 which says: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
