Trai Camby Obituary

TRAI DYSHAWN CAMBY, 47, of Hartford, affectionately known as “DJ Trai Love” entered eternal rest on Monday, October 18, 2021 at home.  He was the beloved son of Dennis and Sharon (Camby) Gomes born May 23, 1974 in Hartford, CT.    He attended Watkinson School. Bloomfield High and graduated from East Hartford High School.  He attended Keuka College and played on the Keuka College men’s basketball team.  Trai along with Mike Powell and the late DJ Londonn Williams founded Wicked Productions, a music entertainment group that promoted, performed and provided music & sound to numerous bars, nightclubs and arenas (including Union Station, Bar With No Name, Albert’s Lakeside and Uhart and many more). In addition to Amazon, Trai, worked at multiple car dealerships (including Decormier, Middletown, Manchester and harte Nissan; Canton Volvo  and Sound Auto in Branford to name a few). Selling close to 10,000 cars in his lifetime, Trai, was self proclaimed “The King of Cars” an LLC that he was passionately working on.  He was a member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church and also attended Resurrection of Life Ministries. Trai was also actively involved with the Lupus Foundation. Trai loved playing music and making people happy, but more than anything, he loved his son TJ.  Playing on his turntables brought him peace, and he did this almost daily. Trai was not only an amazing Dj, but he was also a phenomenal salesman…cars and otherwise!  Trai could help someone in the worst financial position leave the dealership with a car they were happy with.   Trai was full of life and passion; if he called you friend he loved you like family. Trai was a great husband, father, son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend.  The lives of those he touched will not be the same.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Janique Georgia (Wakefield) Camby; a son Trai Julian Camby; step sons Ja’Mari Manson and Marcus Manson Jr; sisters Denise L. Gomes -Boyd and Darlene Smith, both of MD; His loving Godmother Jill Naraine; aunts Lorraine Keaton, Lucretia Gomes, Marie Bryant and Sharon Gomes, uncles Stephen, Eric and Kevn Gomes; His former wife Julia Johnson Brinson; and a host of other relatives and friends.   He was Predeceased by grandparents Arthur and Mary Jackson.
