Thomas James Whitaker

Mr. Thomas James Whitaker began his journey on this earth on July 1, 1953.  Born to Henrietta W. Gibson and the late Moses Whitaker of Ridgeway, SC. He completed his journey on April 11, 2020.

Thomas attended Fairfield High School in Winnsboro, SC.  He was a long time member of Antioch Baptist Church of Ridgeway, SC.  More recently he was a member of The First Cathedral Church in Bloomfield, CT.  Over the years he was dutifully employed by Fairfield County Hospital, B & E Construction and The City of Hartford.  He retired from The City of Hartford in 2009. 

Thomas was affectionately known as JT by friends and family.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was preceded in death by his father, Moses Whitaker; brothers Moses and Michael Whitaker; sister Johnnie Mae Whitaker Wright Alston; and step father Lester Gibson.

Mr. Thomas Whitaker leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother Henrietta W. Gibson; a daughter Channon Hatcher, a step daughter Melaniece Newell and step son Jamar Newell; 5 brothers Fred (Joyce) Whitaker; Larry (Monique) Whitaker; Curtis (Karen) Whitaker; John (Stacey) Whitaker; Martell (Sheila) Whitaker; 2 sisters Vera W. (Theodore) Jackson and Elease (Clinton) Washington; six beautiful grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  He also leaves to mourn his passing special friends Simone, Vicky.
