Tamika Taylor Obituary

Tamika Maria Taylor, 38, of Bloomfield, CT, peacefully passed away Friday, November 21, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hartford, CT on July 27, 1987, to Andrea Speight and Tracey Taylor.

Tamika graduated from Bloomfield High School in 2005 and went on to earn an associate’s degree in Applied Science from Briarwood College in 2008. Most recently, she was employed as an Underwriting Assistant with Berkley Healthcare Financial Lines. Prior to that, she spent more than 10 years working as a Medical Assistant with Connecticut Women OB/GYN.

A devoted woman of faith, Tamika loved her Pastor and was a faithful member of St. Johns Full Gospel Deliverance Church since 1998. From her youth, she was heavily involved in the ministry, including serving as a member of the liturgical dance team. As she developed, so did her passion for serving others. Tamika put these passions to use by working in the church’s nursery, and later joining the Greeters Committee. Over the years, she also contributed to various church committees, always ready to help set up and support church events.

Being the only granddaughter, Tamika embraced a nurturing role within her family and was affectionately known as “mother” to her twin brothers and 3 cousins, who were raised as her brothers. Each of them knew that they had to get the “green light” from her before going any further in their relationships.

To treasure her memory, Tamika leaves her parents, Andrea Speight (Melvin) and Tracey Taylor (Janira); her sister, Nakeisha Huff; and two brothers, Jovan Taylor and Jamal Taylor (Allyssa). She also leaves her grandfather, Norman Nesbeth; her aunts, Rosemarie “Pat” Nesbeth-Barrett (Dwight), Millicent (Taylor) Fenn; and her brother/cousins, Tyrell Barrett (Candace), Raymond Barrett, Shawn Barrett, Cameron Barrett and Taylor Barrett and a host of loving relatives and friends. In addition, she is survived by her step-siblings, Sapphire (Zaylanie & Ziare), Melvin, Tiffany, and Jamel, along with 2 nieces and 1 nephew; her best friends Nadia, Sha’Ron, Ivory, Shayla and Ashley; her spiritual mother, Peggy Leggett; her bonus grandmother, Jennie Howard; and her mentor, Mattie Young.

Tamika was predeceased by her grandparents Elsie Nesbeth, Miller Taylor and Annie Taylor, as well as her great grandmother, Myrtle Whittle.
