Steve Harris, Jr

Steve Harris, Jr. 72, of Hartford, CT departed this life Thursday, October 1, 2020. Steve was born on January 31, 1948 in Hartford, CT to the late Mattie Bell Harris and Steve Harris, Sr.  

Steve joined the United States Army while in his teens and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Returning home, Steve married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, the late Cynthia S. Harris.  They were together for 39 years until her passing in 2010.  A lifelong resident of Hartford, CT, Steve recently moved to New Britain, CT.  Always with a bright smile and engaging laugh, Steve loved watching New York Giants football, listening to music, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

He is also predeceased by three sisters, Eva Harris, Martha “Shimmy” Jackson and Mary "Bobby" Harris and three brothers, William "Bo" Harris, Oscar Harris and Floyd "Morgan".

He leaves, to cherish his memory, 3 sons, Steve Harris, III, Ashford, CT, Ashley Rashad Harris, New Britain, CT, Randy Ray Jermaine Parkman, a daughter Trenice Shantrel Parkman, Windsor Locks, CT, a sister, Janin Harris, Hartford, CT, 4 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 2 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. 

Calling hours will be Saturday, October 17, 2020, 9:00–10:00am with the funeral and burial immediately following. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT.
