Ruth Winston Wilkerson

On Sunday,April 25, 2021, God embraced Ruth Winston Wilkerson into his heavenly kingdom. Ruth was born in Wake County, NC to the late Reverend Euell Winston and First Lady Charity Mangum Winston. Ruth was windowed by her husband Hugh Miller Wilkerson Sr. She spent most of her adult life here in Connecticut, working and raising her children as well as others. Ruth retired from the City of Hartford in 1995. Everyone that knew her loved her cooking, words of wisdom and her love for all. Even when she knew it was time to depart her worldly life she was still concerned for her loved ones.

Ruth had 13 siblings. 10 brother and 3 sisters. Estonia, Nelson, William, Samuel, Moses, Thaddeus, Aaron, Isaiah, John, Euell Jr., Maude Lee, Annebelle and Josephine. Survived by sister-in-law Cora Winston.

Ruth was blessed with six children. Her eldest Hugh Miller Wilkerson Jr (pre-deceased) survived by (Carol Wilkerson, Alfreda Wilkerson) Alfonso Wilkerson (Beverly Wilkerson, Brenda Wallace) Sheila Thomas (Raymond Thomas) Michele Wilkerson, George Wilkerson (Yvonne Wilkerson) and Cornelius Lee Wilkerson. She raised Mildred Watson, Aaron Winston Jr., Sandra Winston, Curtis Trottman, and Charlene Landry Manson. She had one God daughter Kanysha Love Banks, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. 

She had a special place in her heart for Malquon, Shantel, Shereece, Isiah, Eyvette and Irene. Much love for her nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. 

We love you Ruth Winston Wilkerson. You will be truly missed while resting in your heavenly peace. Until we meet again.
