Ruby Mae Tyson (lovingly known as Aunt Mae) was born in Americus, Georgia, on May 22, 1933, to the parents of the late Eddie Lee Tyson Sr. and Ella Jones Tyson. She was the eldest child born out of seven siblings. Ruby received her education in the public school system of Sumter County, Georgia. She worked for the State of Connecticut as a social worker for 30 years.
Ruby moved to Hartford, Connecticut, in 1955. She is survived by three children: Eddie (Punch) and his wife Lovina Raines, Shirley Raines, and Crystal Wiggins. Ruby was truly a special soul who always put the needs of others in front of her own. Her warm smile and giving heart will be missed by all who knew her.
Besides her children she is survived by her grandchildren, George (Tony) and wife Frankie Timmons, Tyrell Timmons, Eddie Raines, Tira and husband Herbert Neal, Dwayne Huggins, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ruby is preceded in death by her daughter, Delores (Lois) Timmons, brothers, Eddie Lee Tyson Jr., Richard Tyson, Alvin Tyson, Leroy Davis, and Earl Davis, as well as her sisters, Juanita Varner and Minnie Bell Mitchell.
Rest well, Ma, Grammy, Big-Ma, you’ve earned it.
