Rother Lee McLennon III (Rocky), Departed this life suddenly on Saturday October 18,2025. Rocky was born August 3,1960 to high-school sweethearts Rother Lee McLennon II, and Dorothy Mae White (McLennon) Carr, in Hartford, CT. Raised in Rice Heights in the city’s South End. Rocky was the first son, first grandson, first great- grandson, and first great-great-grandson. He was not only loved but cherished. As a child Rocky spent his summers in Thomasville Georgia. Where he enjoyed exploring the wide open spaces of his families land. In awe of all nature had to offer. Early on Rocky developed a love for drums and was quite the talent. Raised in the Church Rocky attended Warburton Community Congregational Church. Later becoming a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. In 1978, Rocky completed his formal education with the Hartford Public School System. After High-school Rocky began his career at Pratt and Whitney Air Craft, in East Hartford, CT. In 1981 Rocky enlisted in the Army National Guard, ending his military service with an Honorable Discharge. Following in his father’s footsteps Rother fulfilled a full time career as a barber. Working in numerous barbershops in the city of Hartford. In the early 2000’s Rocky relocated to Baltimore, MD where he earned the title of Master Barber, for his expert skills in cutting, styling, and grooming hair. After many years in Baltimore, in 2018 Rocky returned to CT to be closer to his immediate family and loved ones. Rocky settled in New Haven in 2019. For the last six years he worked at Amrit’s Grooming Lounge in Hamden, CT. Rocky’s journey is one of grace and perseverance. He left a lasting impression on all that he encountered. An infectious smile and personality. He was well known and a friend to many. Most importantly Rocky was a child of God. Rocky’s love for the Lord and his knowledge of Gods word was something he carried with pride. A commitment he truly cherished. Rocky was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Mae White (McLennon) Carr. Father Rother Lee McLennon II. Brother Oscar McLennon, sister Elizabeth McLennon. Paternal Grandmother Lucille Fortson McLennon. Maternal Grandparents Hattie Harvin (White) O’Bryant, and Thomas White Jr. Rocky is survived by his son’s Rother Lee McLennon IV, and Sloane Thomas of CT. Four Daughters Gwendolyn (McLennon) Scruse of North Carolina; Rachel Hogan-McLennon, Alexandria (Hogan-McLennon) Dieudonne (Peter), of CT; and Jasmine McLennon of Alabama. A sister Doreen McLennon of CT. Brother Keith McLennon of CT. Grandson Syris Williams of NC. Granddaughters Adeeyah Scruse, Mya Scruse, Nyla Scruse, of CT; Liberty Thomas, and Eden Hogan-White of CT. Aunts Constance White, Janice Ortiz, and Catherine McLennon of CT. Jesse Jo of FL,and Jerri Bethel of GA. Uncle Thomas White III of GA. Nieces Shonda McLennon and Naiyah Acevedo-McLennon of CT; and Breanna Bell of VA. Nephew Tyler McLennon of CT.
