Ronnell Rogers Obituary

 

Ronnell Damone Rogers left us too soon on January 17, 2026, in New Haven, Connecticut, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronnell was born on October 29, 1973, to the late Linda Diane Baldwin of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and King Eaddy also of Bridgeport, CT He was well known and deeply respected throughout the cities of New Haven and Bridgeport, both on and off the basketball court. Known for his exceptional skills, Ronnell had a way of breaking ankles with smooth moves, confident layups, and competitive three-pointers that made every game exciting.

A familiar face at the New Haven YMCA, Ronnell played in the Midnight League and was always invited to participate in basketball events and tournaments throughout the community. Wherever there was a game, his talent and presence were welcomed.

Beyond basketball, Ronnell was a dedicated worker who proudly served the community through his employment with the City of New Haven Parks and Recreation, where he made a positive impact on local programs and public spaces. He also worked at Fleet Pride, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment.

Ronnell was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. He was known for his sense of humor and loved to tell jokes, always keeping those around him laughing.

He will be forever missed by his loving family, friends, and the many members of the community whose lives he touched.

Ronnell is survived by his children: Ronnell Rogers Jr., Adasia Rogers, Tanaaz Rogers, Amirah Rogers, Ty’Jhaun Rogers, Aniyah Martinez, Cynee Hawley, and Tayvon Harris; his grandchildren: London, Rylnn, Noir, Ryleigh, and Cyrus. his father, King Eaddy (Grace); his siblings: Edgar A. Rogers Jr. (Kim), Vernon Rogers (Joanne), Shevette Rogers, King Eaddy Jr., Bernice Eaddy (Corey), Fountessa Eaddy, Nykia Eaddy, and Chad Jeffries (Melissa); He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.

Also left to cherish memories are his special friends/day ones — Mush, Blow, Daela, Poppy, Shem, Demo, Ali Wack T Dash, Shank, Pork, D-O , Black, Fatman — too many to list; please charge it to our minds and not our hearts.

Ronnell was predeceased by his mother, Linda Diane Baldwin, and his grandparents, Alvin Lloyd Clinton Sr. and Rebecca Porter.
