Ronald Clarke Obituary

Ronald George Clarke was born on September 12, 1956 in Duxes, Point Hill, St Catherine, JAMAICA WI and was the youngest child of his mother Lucille Edwards and father Martin George Clarke, both of whom are deceased. As a child, Ronald was introduced to trucks by his father, who was a truck-driver, and this was where he developed his passion for driving and the dream of owning his own trucking business. Unfortunately his father died when he was only 5 years old but undeterred, Ronald eventually taught himself to drive and was known by everyone as an upbeat and positive person. In truth, Ronald never saw obstacles in his path, only opportunities, and he strongly believed that he could do anything his heart desired. He started driving commuter buses at age 16 and moved on to driving trucks and taxis in his later teenaged years. The deep and abiding love he felt for his mother is well known and he would always accompany her when she was buying produce or when she was selling them in the market.

Ronald was the apple of his mother’s eyes.

He attended the Point Hill Primary school where he made friends with all of his class-mates and kept in touch with them over the years via social media and telephone. He was a genuinely kind and loving man, who was always extending himself to his family and friends. Ronald migrated to the USA in his early twenties to secure a better life for himself and his children. He started in Brooklyn, NY where on his second day, he landed a job driving a truck but, unfortunately, he got lost and was fired immediately. But that was Ronald! He was always showing his confidence, tenacity and fearlessness. He eventually left New York for Hartford, Connecticut where he settled and achieved the desire of his heart by becoming an entrepreneur. He owned several restaurants including the popular, King Solomon, and he also called his sound system by the same name. A consummate lover of music and especially reggae, Ronald enjoyed working as a promoter and introduced popular reggae acts to Hartford. He also achieved his life’s goal of owning a trucking company, several properties in the greater Hartford region and he improved and expanded his family home in JAMAICA.

Ronald George Clarke 62 years old, made his transition on Thursday August 15, 2019  surrounded by family and friends.
