Richard James, 82, of Hartford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
Born in Camden, Alabama, Richard was the son of the late Jessie James and Janie (Ward) James. He was predeceased by his former wife and lifelong companion, Debra (Kitchen) James of Ellington, CT, and by his beloved son, Randy “Chubbs” James of East Hartford, CT.
Richard dedicated 42 years of service as a machinist with Pratt & Whitney, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady presence. A man of quiet strength and humor, he attended Grace Lutheran Church and found joy in football Sundays, fishing, and time spent with family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Wendy James; Kimberly and Christopher Shropshire; grandchildren Alexus, Amari, and Jaheem James of Hartford, CT; Coii James of Ellington, CT; and Jazmyn James of East Hartford, CT. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Syanne James of Hartford, CT, and Aiyla Ivy of East Hartford, CT, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
Services are entrusted to All Faith Memorial Chapel. A wake, including a viewing and candlelight service, will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A private “Going Home” service for family and friends will follow on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Richard’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and faith — qualities that will continue to live on through the family he so dearly loved.
