Richard "Butch" Blade, born November 8th 1945 in New Britain CT to parents Annie Clara Humphries-Blade (deceased) and Charles Edwin Blade (deceased)
Siblings James E. Blade (deceased), Theodore Edward Blade (deceased), Hope Louise Blade (deceased). He passed away on January 9, 2025.
He is survived by his estranged wife Aaliyah Mahasin-Blade and brothers Henry H. Blade (Sheila), Thomas David Blade and lifelong friend Rita Baylor.
Children: Timothy Williams, Christopher Williams (Susan), Carrie Blade, Lillian Blade, Aaliyah Hasan and Muhammad Hasan
Grandchildren: Alyssa Williams, Timothy Williams Jr, Patrick Williams, Julia E. Blade, Bailey Christopher Robert LeBron, Shirlynn Chapman and Braylen Chapman
And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard joined the military (Army). He was a soldier and a teacher from 1967 until 1989. He was employed by the Connecticut School System (Manchester High School) from 1999-2015 where he helped numerous students stay in school. He was, also, involved in many community activities/events in the city of Manchester and was a member of Bethel AME Church in Bloomfield. Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle seeing the sites of CT, NH, ME and VT.
His memorial will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 3 to 3:30 pm. Please note that seating is limited. Location is the All Faith Memorial Chapel, 90 John Fitch Blvd, South Windsor, CT 06074. After the service there is an informal meet and greet the family, until 4 pm. Family and Friends will gather following the services starting at 4 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 1154 Blue Hills, Ave, Bloomfield, CT.
His ashes will be interred at the Middletown Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown, CT at the family’s discretion.
