Reggie McKay Obituary

Reginald Terrance Mckay (Reggie), a man of strong character and pride, bravely fought to survive two aggressive cancers. On December 29, 2015 in Hartford, CT at the age of 58 he was called home to join his mother Geneva Hodge Mckay, father Leroy Mckay, and brothers Frank Williams, Gerald Williams, and Meredith Williams.

His memory lives on with his beloved wife of 28 years, Rilla Ojei, two sons Reginald T. Mckay & Romel Mckay, three daughters Tameka Robinson, Regina Mckay, & Shanta Wiley, seven grandsons and one granddaughter.

Reggie was born on August 8, 1957 in Chicago IL. Growing up in a large family of nine siblings, he is survived by his brother LeRoy Mckay and sisters Carol Harrell, Sharon Allen, Sandra Thompson, Loretta Strong Ellis, and Renita Clemons. He was a loving brother, honorable veteran, and a strong-willed man who was motivated by the love of his family; doing whatever necessary to defend, protect, and support them.

Reggie blessed Hartford, Connecticut in 1988 with his generous, happy, and fun-loving spirit-instantly touching the lives of many. He unconditionally loved everyone and it was his God loving spirit that made him easy to love.

Naturally confi dent, charming, and humorous, he never failed to remind us that “he still look good’ as he blessed us with his soulful voice and made us laugh with priceless jokes. Beautiful inside and out, he was a loyal friend and without hesitation gave the shirt off his back to many. His kind and humble soul was happiest knowing he had the love of his life by his side who cared for, nurtured, and supported him to the very end.

Reggie will be remembered by many as his spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones including a long line of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends he considered family.  Burial will be in CT State Veteran Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
