Omar Felder Obituary

Omar (Johnson) Felder, known to his friends and loved ones as “Little Omar” was born on January 12, 1989. He was a true testament of intellect, practicality and logic. Little Omar will be remembered matter of fact and simply for his kindred spirit and his ability to be present in a room without having said one word.  To say that he was reserved and quiet would be a gross understatement. However, even in silence he had the ability to be heard.  He was the epitome of his father.

Omar attended the University of Connecticut and in 2012 he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in English at the College of Liberal Arts. His vocabulary was profound and he used words such as “sesquipedalian”, and alike, just for the fun of it in casual conversations to confuse you or see our reactions. He continued the tradition of the royal blue and pure white in the Johnson Family by pledging Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. The irony in this is that the principles of Phi Beta Sigma; Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service are three core values that Little Omar possessed early on in life and even before his collegiate years. His scholastic achievements, loyalty and devotion as a brother and son as well as his random and intentional acts of kindness helped mold the young man we all have come to acknowledge, know and love.

Omar enjoyed writing poems and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. While his poise and charisma were worthy of praise it was his intellect that was infectious. One thing that rings true about Little Omar is that his smile could captivate a room and that is a smile we will never forget.

Omar is survived by his parents, Elaine Felder, Omar and Lavine Johnson; grandmother, Stacy Felder; his five brothers, Derrick, Eric, Robert (aka, Manny), Phillip and Malik; his nephew, Aaron and niece, Azaiyah.

He is predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents, Azenia Marie Johnson and Willie Milton Johnson; Maternal Grandparents, Alice and Robert Felder; Sister, Alyceson Archer; Cousin, Neffertiti Johnson and; Uncle, Robert Felder.

Little Omar’s name and spirit will continue to be uplifted by his eight uncles; Willie Michael Johnson and wife Elizabeth, Emeer Ted Johnson and wife Olga, Langston DeWayne Johnson and wife Kim, Darryl Perry, Dale Perry and wife Lori, Chad Felder, Bruce Felder and Andrew Felder. Omar also has seven aunts; Renee Corine Johnson, Angela Perry, April Marie Johnson, Rochelle Little and husband Charles, Michelle Johnson, Brigette Pessao and Kimberly Felder.

Also left to praise Little Omar is a host of first and second cousins whom will continue to regard him as a brother as well as many friends and loved ones.

If you were ever fortunate enough to come across this young man’s path, you are all the better for having done so.
