Olivia Lee Taylor, 80, of Hartford, Connecticut,
passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 4,
2025, at home, surrounded by family. Olivia was
born on December 13, 1944, to the late Julia Mae
and Morgan Pertillar. She was predeceased by
her husband, Roy Lee Taylor Sr.; two sons, Roy
“Guy” Lee Taylor Jr. and Rodney “Giz” Leon
Taylor; three sisters, Ardell Reed, Marjorie Gill
(survived by Monroe Gill), and Marlene
Jernigan and Charles Jernigan Sr.; her brother,
Jesse Sherman Pertillar; and the very special
man in her life, Walter Jordan.
Olivia is survived by her sister, Yvonne King
(husband Garry King); four children, Renee L.
Taylor, Rory L. Taylor (wife Denise), Marjorie L.
Taylor, and Denine L. Taylor; twenty-five
grandchildren; sixty-three great-grandchildren;
eighteen nieces and nephews; and a host of
relatives and friends.
Olivia “Big O” Taylor was a lifelong resident of
Hartford and a pillar in the Bellevue Square
community. She retired as a dedicated certified
nursing assistant after thirty-five years at
Chelsea Manor. In her spare time, she enjoyed
fishing, cooking, spending time at the beach,
shopping, spending time with her family, and
hosting friends at social gatherings. She was a
shining light in the lives she touched, always
moving with love, generosity, and kindness. She
was deeply devoted to her family. Olivia will be missed dearly.
