Nichols Almedo Thompson, 42,
was born on January 31, 1983, and
was sadly taken from us on April 7,
2025, in a tragic accident. He was born in
Lesterfield, Clarendon, Jamaica, to parents
Sylvia Murray and Henry Thompson.
Nick attended Treadlight Basic School and
lived in May Pen for eight years before
migrating to the United States in 1991.
While living in America, he attended Martin
Luther King and Fox Middle School.
Nick was a man of many talents and even
more heart. Whether it was through his
landscaping work, his love for cooking,
or his passion for music, he found joy in
creating and sharing with others. He was
the kind of person who made you feel
welcome, made you laugh, and made a
lasting impact just by being himself. His
witty sense of humor, warm personality, and
deep kindness never wavered, even during
difficult times.
He lived with purpose—spreading unity,
encouraging positivity, and always lifting
others up. Nick spoke with deep pride and
love about his children and was fiercely loyal
to the people he cared about. He had a rare
gift for connecting with others, and his light
touched everyone who had the blessing of
knowing him.
Nick leaves behind a beautiful legacy.
He is survived by his daughter, Kierrah
Thompson, and a son; his devoted parents,
Henry and Sylvia; sisters Trudy, Daisha,
Kevian, and Andrea; brothers Wayne,
Jerome, and Marlon; nephews Kemoy,
Kemani, Nick, Chris, and Leighton; nieces
Kemara, Alecia, Danisha, and Petra; and a
wide circle of extended family and friends
who became like family over the years.
“What you leave behind is not what is
engraved in stone monuments, but what is
woven into the lives of others.” — Pericles
This quote by Pericles means that a person’s
true legacy isn’t about material things like
buildings or gravestones—it’s about the
impact they have on the people around
them.
It speaks to how someone is remembered
through the love, kindness, and lessons
they shared, and how they shaped the lives
of others through relationships, actions,
and character. In other words, the way Nick
made people feel, the values he passed
down, and the memories he created with
family and friends—that’s his real legacy,
and it lives on in all of you.
Nick’s life was a living example of this truth.
His legacy isn’t defined by material things,
but by the love, laughter, and strength he
poured into the lives of those around him.
Every kind gesture, every lesson shared, every
bond he built—we carry those forward.
To his beloved parents, who gave Nick
the gift of life. That gift gave us the chance
to know him, love him, and share in his
journey. And for that, we’re grateful.
If there’s one thing moments like this
remind us, it’s how precious family truly is.
Life moves fast, and we don’t always realize
how much the time we spend together
matters—until it becomes a memory.
Today, as we celebrate Nick’s life, we’re also
reminded of how much love can be shared
in small moments: a phone call, a laugh
around the dinner table, a hug that lingers.
Family is everything. And if Nick taught us
anything, it’s to hold each other close, to
make time for one another, and to never
take a single moment for granted.
As we say goodbye to Nick, we hold close
the light he brought into the world. He
reminded us all of the power of family—not
just by blood, but by heart. May we continue
to live with compassion, unity, and purpose,
just as he did. And in doing so, may we keep
his memory forever alive.
