NaZiyah, affectionately called “Nuk” passed away on Tuesday, February 11th, surrounded by family.
NaZiyah was born in Hartford, CT on October 6th, 2006 to Ronald Walton and Joanna Hurt. NaZiyah attended Southern Connecticut State College where she was pursuing a career as a Forensic Psychologist. She worked at Goodwill and took her job very seriously. She was described by her managers as likable, respectable, and a good team player.
As a child, NaZiyah loved school, playing with her friends, Girl Scouts, music, and Art. NaZiyah had an amazing voice; she loved to sing, and she sang in Chorus throughout college. She enjoyed playing multiple instruments, including the guitar, violin, piano, and flute. She loved eating her grandmother Cynthia’s fried chicken, curry chicken, and food at Wendy’s, Popeyes, and Chick-fil-A.
NaZiyah enjoyed going to concerts and listening to artists like Drake and A Boogie with the hoodie. She created her own fashion style, she expressed herself through her piercings and tattoos. She was inspired to be a tattoo artist like her brother Johnny. NaZiyah was raw, real, sarcastic, and funny in a way that could pull you out of any bad day. Her joyful laughter and beautiful voice light up any room and will be missed. She was an artist, a singer, a hairstylist- and creative in every way possible. When she loved you, she really loved you. We’re not saying goodbye, because we know she is still here in the music, in the art, in the moments that feel like her. So instead we’re going to say what she always said…. Be easy, y’all.
NaZiyah loved being an aunt to her nephew Zakhi and her Neice Mckenzie.
NaZiyah is survived by her siblings Jamira Hurt, Terrol Walton, Tykell Walton, Johnny Hurt and William Griffiths. She leaves behind a host of uncle’s, aunts, cousins, and close friends.
