Mother Magaline Flowers-Clarke, 94, entered eternal rest peacefully on Monday,
July 15, 2024, at home. Born on December 11, 1929, to the late Elliott and Clara
Flowers of Troy, Alabama, Mother Clarke moved to Hartford, CT from McCullough
Alabama in 1962, and was employed as a domestic worker until she became self-
employed with her own home Daycare. After many years being self-employed, she
was offered a job at G. Fox & Company, which she gladly accepted.
She was also known to her family as Gramps, Graham Cracker, Chief Poobah.
Mother Clarke loved to cook and was an amazing cook who prepared large meals,
for her family and friends to come together with love, food, laughter and fun.
Mother Clarke was a member of Macedonia Church of God in Christ for many years
before becoming a member of the Christian Community Outreach Church where her
daughter, Pastor Geraldine Findley, pastors. Mother remained a faithful, dedicated
tithe paying member until her passing. As a member of the church, she served as
Secretary, Church Clerk, Head of the Mothers Board and was over the outreach musicians.
known as “The Mother Clarke Band” in which she so proudly
acknowledged them each year with joy up until her passing. Magaline was the
oldest of her siblings and known to be the beloved “Matriarch”
of her family. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, sense of humor and straight to the
warm smile, compassionate heart, sense of humor and straight to the point personality.
She captivated everyone that she met. She leaves behind a legacy of love,
kindness, and cherished memories.
Mother Magaline Flowers-Clarke was predeceased by her parents, Elliott and Clara
Flowers; a brother, Eddie Flowers; three Sisters, Annie Pearl Johnson, Clarice Harris,
and Jessie Bishop; a daughter, Patricia Harris; and a son, Rochester Lambert.
Mother Clarke leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters; Viola Wills of
Wethersfield, CT, Pastor Geraldine Findley of Bloomfield, CT, Sarah Matlock (Walter)
of East Hartford, CT, Elder Charlene Stevens (Edmond) of Greensboro, NC and
Martha Lambert of Hartford, CT; three sons; Carney Harris of Wethersfield, CT,
Damingo Lambert (Vivian) of Meriden, CT, and Marcus Lambert (Sherry) of
Lawrenceville, GA; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great
grandchildren, 17 great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and
friends.
As Mother Clark entered eternal rest from earth, she concluded the 5th generation
and leaves 4 generations to carry on the family legacy so, as we bid farewell to
Mother Clarke let us remember and honor the impact she had on our lives. May her
soul forever rest in eternal peace and may the memories we shared bring comfort
during this difficult time.
