It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, and friend Monique Jaunette Cooke of East Hartford on November 24, 2022. She was daughter to the late Carol Clarke and Melvis McMillan Sr. She lived life on her own terms and wasn’t afraid to tell you like she saw it. She danced to the beat of her own drum, and you couldn’t help but join in. We will never forget her grandiosity and how she touched our lives. Nor will we forget her many stories that usually ended in “You hear me?" She leaves a void that can never be filled and memories that can never be forgotten.
She was predeceased by her daughter Monique Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted children; Joshua White, LaSaundra Lawrence, Bree'Ana Shaw (Dale), and Kam'Rin Sinclair. Sisters Rene Cooke, Shyrlene Chapman (Wesley), Yvette Braswell (Linwood), and Yvonne Deshalto (Andy). Brothers David Cooke (Beryl), Melvis McMillan Jr. (Ebony), and Maurice McMillan. Stepsister Vanessa Henriques and grandkids Genesis, Layla, Kaiden, and Zhuri; Godsons Tyrone Morris and Willie Gaye, Jr.; Honorary families the Williams’, Hibbert’s, Backus’, Russell’s, Campbell’s, and Parsons’. Special Cousin Nathaniel Williams. Special friends April, Francis, Valerie, Alexis, Henry (Hank). As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Monique was predeceased by sister Theresa Ann Fitch, stepmother Sandra McMillan, brother Justin Patrick Milton, Grandmother Sarah Louise Cooke.
