McArthur Arrington, 79, of Bloomfield, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He entered the world on June 13, 1942 in Wayne County, MS to the late Lee B. Arrington and the late Lorene Weary.
McArthur graduated from Oak Park High School in Laurel, Mississippi. He served 3 years in the United States Army performing inspections, repairs and modifications on machinery. He was a proud veteran. He moved to Hartford, CT in the 1960’s and worked for Patent Scaffolding until he retired in 2005. He enjoyed most genres of music, gardening, fishing, and cooking. He also loved to strike up conversations with people, but most of all he loved his family.
When he relocated to Hartford, CT, he became a member of Victory Cathedral (Welcome Baptist Church) where he was a faithful member of the Usher’s Ministry and a van driver for Uncle Guy Brown until his health failed him.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 55 years, Vernice Arrington; two daughters, Wilhemina and Cassandra Arrington of Atlanta, GA; six brothers, Jerry McCann, Milton Arrington (Genora), Lee Anthony Arrington, Michael Pollard (Dora) all of Laurel, MS, Henry Arrington (Cassandra) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Anthony Weary (Myrna) of Milwaukee, WI; three sisters, Glender Jenkins, Jacqueline Evans (Bobby), Cynthia Arrington all of Laurel, MS; three special nieces, Ethel Cobb (Hartford, CT), Angela Blue and April Gray-Pamphile; a special nephew, Carlos Gray and a special great niece/granddaughter, Leeza Pamphile (all of Bloomfield, CT); three Goddaughters, Ayanna Hyman-El Mouatasim (Oakland, CA), Ambra Hyman (Philadelphia, PA) and Kayla Gilliam (Bloomfield, CT); a godson, Andre Blue (Bloomfield, CT) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his bonus mother, Rev. Catherine Arrington, sister, Edith Mae McCann and grandmother, Annie McCann.
