Mary Francis Brooks White, 82, of Manchester, Connecticut, transitioned to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Mary was born on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1940, in Mulberry, Florida.
Mary is a high school graduate of Union Academy, in Bartow, Florida. Her family and friends will always remember her as a woman who loved and served Jesus, and one who used her anointed voice to spread His Gospel. Mary’s gift as a singer was recognized as a young girl. She became the lead singer of The Famous Brooks Sisters, a Florida-based gospel group which included the vocal talents of her other sisters: Carolyn, Leola, and Lessie. Mary would eventually relocate from her home state of Florida to Hartford, Connecticut. Here, she completed a course in radio journalism at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Mary also worked at LIMRA Insurance Company, and at Waddell Elementary School. Mary served as an ordained Minister under the spiritual leadership of Pastor James Williams at Revival Time Deliverance Center. Her final place of worship was at The Well: A Spirit-Filled Church, located in Plainville, Connecticut. Her pastor was Timothy Whitton.
April 12, 2022 marked 31 years of happy marriage for Mary and her husband, Johnnie White, Sr. She was a proud mother of four sons: Jack Watkins, Jr.; James Cornelius Watkins, Sr.; Gerald L. Watkins; Willie J. Watkins. She was predeceased by her son, James Cornelius Watkins, Sr. She is survived by Johnnie White, Sr., Jack Watkins, Jr. (and wife, Cassandra); Gerald L. Watkins; Willie J. Watkins; Sister, Carolyn Brooks Burton; Brother, Robert Brooks (and wife, Vicie); Brother, James Brooks (and wife, Bernie); Gloria White; Nadine White Greene (and husband, Darnell); Willie White; Johnnie White, Jr. (and wife, Cindy); Aaron White; Carolyn White; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other beloved family members.
Services will be held at All Faith Memorial Chapel (90 John Fitch Boulevard, South Windsor, CT, 06074) on Wednesday, November 2, 2022: Wake (10 AM) and Funeral (11 AM).
The repass will be held at Second Congregational Church, 385 N Main Street Manchester (North St Entrance).
