Marilyn Tiggett-Grant Obituary

Marilyn Monroe Tiggett-Grant born January 16, 1951 to the late Albert and Maude (Thompkins) Tiggett. Marilyn was also affectionately known to her family as “Mae Mae”.

As a youth Marilyn attended Hartford Public schools where she graduated from Hartford High in 1969 as a young mother of two boys. Directly from high school she began her career with the State of Connecticut as a Social Worker where she later retired after 35 years of dedicated service. 

In the 1980’s Marilyn became a member of the Arrowhead and Progressive league both located in Hartford, CT. Over the past 10 years she also was a proud member of The Phenomenal Ladies of Hartford Red Hatters Club. 

Marilyn “Mae Mae” was a devoted Mother, sister, aunt, wife, grandmother and friend. Her bright smile and vibrant personality could warm a room in a heartbeat. Wherever there was music you could be certain “Mae Mae” was on the dance floor getting the party started. 

Marilyn will be missed tremendously. She leaves precious memories and a life time of laughter to her two devoted sons; Trevor Lanell Tiggett (Tammy) and Lonell Franklin Tiggett all of Hartford, CT. Special friend in-love (her “baby”) Alfred Morgan; One Uncle Willie Tiggett; Twenty-three loving nieces. Devoted nieces; Julie Ann Huff, Gia Tiggett, Julie “Muffin” Huff, Kwanisha Montgomery all of Hartford, CT. and Lashawn Gadson of GA.

Eight-teen nephews. Devoted nephews; Michael Tiggett, Jeffrey, Shawn, Montrell, Robert Huff all of Hartford, CT. Dwayne Roberts of Bloomfield, CT. and Kareem Gadson of Windsor, CT.

Three grandchildren; Leroy Haughton of Mass. Malik Tiggett of Hartford, CT. and Ayana Tiggett of TX. 

Ten great-grandchildren; Jani and Jai Khi Perry, Jy’ere, Ja’mere, Jeremih, Aaliyah Haughton. Sevyn and Legend Perry- Blunt. Kayden and Mi Amour Tiggett all of Hartford, CT.

Special sister-friends Ruth Smith of Mississippi and Patricia Newton of Hartford, CT.

Marilyn is predeceased by her sisters Thelma P. Tiggett and Annie M. Tiggett- Huff. Brothers; William L. Tiggett, Albert Tiggett Jr., Alvin “Peewee” Tiggett and King Tiggett. Granddaughter, Paris Tiggett.      Niece; Sharon A. Huff. Nephew’s; Kim Tiggett, Andre Leggett, Curtis Leggett and Myron Huff.
