Lucy Foster Obituary

 

Lucy Foster 88, formerly known as Lucy Mae Anderson, was born May 28th, 1938, in Selma Alabama. She transitioned on May 19th, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years.

 Known lovingly by many names including mommy, ma, nana, auntie, and simply Lucy. She was truly loved by many. Lucy was a treasure not only to her family, but also to the community she faithfully served for decades.  

Lucy relocated to Pensacola FL where she spent little time before relocating to Hartford CT, while living in Hartford she got married and had four boys and went to beauty school. She worked as a hairdresser. In 1962, that is when she attended beauty school and graduated and received her license. In 1965 she and her friend opened their beauty parlor and boutique. When her friend relocated to Florida, she bought the building so she could have a place to work.

 Lucy went on to becoming a respectable beautician, entrepreneur, and business Owner proudly owning and operating Lucy’s Fashion Tress on Blue Hills Ave in Bloomfield CT for over 30 years. Lucy had a heart for people. She never turned away anyone in need regardless of their situation. She believed in helping others and giving back. During the holidays she made sure families had meals and that no one felt forgotten. She was not only a devoted mother, and grandmother, but also a foster mother to many who lovingly embraced her as family. Her generosity, strength, wisdom, and loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew her. Lucy was also deeply rooted in her faith she was a faithful member of her formal church Inspirational Church of Jesus Christ, before later becoming a member of Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry. She was also a member of the Levas Gospel Choir, where she faithfully participated and would come every year with her children and grandchildren to sing and fellowship.

Lucy was predeceased by her mother Frankie Mae Richardson “Little”, Her father John Anderson, her sister Sandra Little, her brother Walter Little II “ Joe Joe ”, And George Anderson, and her sons Darrel Foster, Brian Foster, and Michael Foster. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children Tommy Foster Jr, Joseph Foster, Sonya Foster, Veronica Foster, Dorothy Foster. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Keith Foster, Tom Foster III, Shanicka Foster, Karina Foster, Sherina Dunlap, Brian Foster Jr., Brandon Foster, Michael Foster Jr., Emmanuel Foster, Neal Foster, and Tylon Smith, along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Lucy's love, guidance and beautiful spirit will continue to live on through everyone blessed to know her. Her legacy of compassion, hard work, faith and unconditional love will never be forgotten. “Her life was a blessing, her memory a Treasure”.
