Lucille Collins, 70, of Hartford, Connecticut, departed this life peacefully on June 3, 2017. She was born to the late Morris and Ellen Collins on December 14, 1946 in Georgetown, South Carolina. In 1964 she relocated to Hartford, where she resided till her passing.
She held various jobs during her lifetime. She worked for Merry Maids, Companions & Home Makers, Golden Years Day Care and Jm Ney for over twenty-five years. Lucille loved to sing, make crafts, visit the sick and clean for others.
She was the first of her siblings, to receive salvation, and became a member of Pentecost Deliverance Ministries in Hartford where she served as a Head Usher for many years. She joined Church of the Most High God, in 1988 under the leadership of the Late Bishop Amos Washington, Jr. where she served as a faithful missionary, Sunday school teacher, praise leader, usher and she opened the doors every Tuesday evening for prayer and tarry service. She was ordained as an Evangelist in 1998. She was known lovingly by her church family, as "Mama Collins".
She is survived by two loving sons: Jimmy Lee Collins and Robert Lee (Joyce) Collins of Hartford. Four sisters, Anna Collins of Hartford, Lizzie (Cliff) Thomas of Maryland, Mamie Shackelford of South Carolina and Pastor Mae Cost of Manchester. Two brothers, Richard Collins of New Jersey and Johnny Collins of Hartford. Four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by one sister, Evelina Duncan and three brothers Jefferson Collins, James Collins and Willis Collins.
