Born on July 11, 1967 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Harford, CT, LaFondra Y. Williams is the daughter of Shirley
Williams and LeRoy Williams, Sr. Since childhood, LaFondra was a resident of Hartford, where she attended
West Middle Elementary School, Quirk Middle School, and Hartford Public High School. A proud mother of
three beautiful children—Shakeria, Anthony, and Keiosha—LaFondra had a kind, generous, warm, and
loving spirit.
Affectionately called “doo” and “fondoo,” LaFondra enjoyed television, movies, and rhythm and blues music.
As for television, she loved her soap operas (“the stories”)—the CBS ones in particular—and kept up with
the details of The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Guiding Light, and As the World Turns.
Turning away from the romance and drama of the soaps, she liked Law and Order: Criminal Minds. And, when
she wanted a hearty laugh, she would watch the Golden Girls, where Dorothy, Sophia, Blanche, and Rose
would make her laugh out loud. She also adored the movie Friday and often would ask “fool, where Craig
at?” quoting her favorite line from the movie.
LaFondra enjoyed cooking at was quite good at it. Friends and family agree that she fried the best chicken
wings! Slab bacon, collard greens, fish, and oxtails are on the list of delicious meals that she prepared. While
cooking, LaFondra passed the time with one of her other favorite hobbies: listening to and singing along with
rhythm and blues music. Lil Kim, Bobby Brown (New Edition), and Diana Ross were a few artists you might
have heard coming from her house.
When the opportunity came, she also did not miss a chance to attend concerts. LaFondra had a keen sense of fashion and loved the color red. From shoes, to dresses, to jeans, to shirts, LaFondra dressed to impress.
You could bet that she would be among the best dressed at the concerts or wherever else she was going.
Adding the right perfume to her wardrobe, LaFondra lived life with joy and energy. Her smiles lit up the
room and her courage inspired.
On September 30th, 2021, LaFondra peacefully transitioned to eternal rest/eternal life, having spent the last
few years of her life as a resident of ICARE (Parkville Center) Hartford. A legacy of love and memories will
be cherished by her friends and family.
She is survived by her mother: Shirley Williams (Hartford, CT); father (LeRoy Williams, Sr. (Miami, FL);
