Katori “Tori” Ladawne Williams, affectionately known as Momma Tori, was born on March 19, 1975, in Hartford, Connecticut, to George “Shorty” Davis. On her journey through this life, she touched countless hearts with her compassion, strength, and unwavering love for her family and community.
Tori was a proud graduate of Goodwin College, where she earned her degree and went on to lead a successful career as a Paralegal for the State of Connecticut Judicial Housing Court. Known for her dedication and heart for others, she made a lasting impact on the community she served — helping families navigate housing challenges and connecting those in need with programs and resources. Her kindness extended beyond her professional life; she was always the first to lend a helping hand and a listening ear.
Tori’s faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Phillips CME Church, she found joy in singing in the Mass Choir and serving her church family. Even during her resting seasons, she continued to show love in quiet, powerful ways — offering wisdom, laughter, and encouragement to anyone who reached out.
Her journey with cancer tested her strength in unimaginable ways, but it also revealed her incredible resilience and faith. Though she faced moments of doubt and loss, Tori never stopped fighting — inspired by her children’s reminder that they needed her as much as she needed them. Through that love, she persevered far beyond what doctors predicted, blessed with the precious time to meet and cherish her grandchildren.
Tori was a mother to many — raising five children, yet loving and nurturing many more. To all who knew her, she was Momma Tori, a source of comfort, humor, and unshakable faith. Her three grandchildren, Jaysan “Poppas,” Harlow “Poo Poo,” and Kendall “Pooda Toot”, were her pride and joy — the light that carried her through the hardest days.
She is survived by her beloved children: Avaughn Brown, Gregory Williams, T’Ira Williams, Erica Quintall, and Richard Jernigan; her grandchildren, Jaysan, Harlow, and Kendall; her father, George “Shorty” Davis; her God-children, Jordyn, Skylar, and Santori; loving siblings Edward, Phillip, Lawanda, Araceli, Renaultta, and Marizol, and her loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
One of Tori’s favorite symbols was the butterfly — a reflection of her spirit. She quoted, “Did you know butterflies rest when it rains because it causes damage to their wings? It’s okay to rest during the storms of life. You’ll always fly again once it’s over.”
And now, her wings are healed, and she soars freely — radiant, whole, and at peace.
Her legacy will live on through every life she’s touched — through her children, her grandchildren, her church family, and the countless souls who felt her love.
