Joyce Ann Howell

Joyce Anne (Ferebee) Howell, 75, of South Windsor, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Joseph and Pattie Brown.

Joyce grew up in Summerville, MA and graduated from Summerville High School in 1967.  After high school Joyce earned her Associate's Degree in Administration and began her career working at a hospital in Belle Glade, Florida. After marrying her husband, Ewart Howell, she moved back to Massachusetts, where they shared 22 years of marriage. Joyce worked in Administration at Raytheon for over 15 years and was deeply involved in supporting her daughters’ schools through fundraising efforts. She never missed a softball or volleyball game, always cheering from the sidelines with pride.

Later in life, Joyce moved to North Carolina to be closer to her cherished grandsons. While there, she pursued further education and earned her Medical Assistant degree from EPCI College of Technology in Raleigh, NC. Joyce had a passion for traveling, music, singing, exploring new places, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved Italian food, theater, and history, and had recently discovered a fondness for British crime movies and YouTube.  Her infectious laughter and love of life will be remembered by all who knew her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ewart Howell. She leaves behind her daughters, Patrice Howe ll and Khara Howell; grandsons Keyshawn Dulin, Joseph Dulin, and Daniel Dulin; cousins Barbara Johnson and Johnna Hester; her best friend Joan Henry and Joan’s daughters Vanessa Henry Campbell and Janel Henry; as well as Dora Lee Butts, a host of other relatives and friends.
