Jovita Garcia, 90, of East Hartford, CT passed away surrounded by her family at Hartford Hospital on February 4, 2023. Jovita was born on April 13, 1932, to Enrique and Irene Garcia in Patillas, Puerto Rico. Jovita came to Connecticut in 1966 where she raised her nine children. Jovita was a loving wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Jovita is preceded in death by her husband Laureano Garcia, her son Ismael Garcia, two grandchildren Jose Antonio Villegas and Evangelio Collazo Jr., and her six brothers Pablo Garcia, Enrique Garcia, Jose Garcia, Efrain Garcia, Frankie Garcia, and Pedro Garcia.
Jovita is survived by her children Gloria and Jose Berrios, Carmen M. Collazo and William G. Aloisa, Laura and Joselyn Garcia, Gladys and Eduardo Irizarris, Daniel Garcia, Minerva and Alfredo Alicea, Norma Garcia and Angel Larrion, Laureano (JR) and Wendy Garcia and daughter in law Angelina Garcia. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren Joseph Berrios, Darline Berrios, Gloria Berrios-Copeland, Michael Berrios, Paul Collazo, Julian Delgado, Tony Villegas, Eduardo Irizarris Jr., Eileen Berrios, Jonathan Irizarris, Ismael Garcia Jr., Daniel Garcia, Carmen Sutyak, Ivianis Garcia, Erica Ortiz, Charlene Alicea, Joshua Garcia, Tristan Garcia and Lukas Garcia. She is also survived by 28 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, 3 sisters Maria Rodriguez, Dolores Garcia, Victoria Cruz and brother Juan Garcia.
She was undoubtedly an honorable woman of God that loved being surrounded by her family, friends and loved ones. Many would say that she was the best cook in the world. She enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. You could always count on getting fed and drinking a great cup of coffee when visiting her home. She was loved by everyone she encountered and will truly be missed by all. We would like to thank you for helping us celebrate her life and the love she gave so freely to everyone.
Burial will be Saturday, February 11, 2023, 10:00 a.m. in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery.
