Jose Luis Jurado, 61, of Hartford, CT, passed away on June 4, 2022.
Jose, lovingly by family and friends as "Guaso”, was born on June 23, 1960 to Carmen Lydia
Matta Melendez and Norberto Jurado in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. After graduating from Weaver High School, he went on to join the military. He served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves.
Guaso was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Guaso was unendingly proud of all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always tried his best to support them.
Guaso was also passionate about car racing and motorcycle drag racing. He was a licensed mechanic by trade and could often be found working on cars, motorcycles, and helicopters. He was a lover of music and often played the congas and timbales at parks for fun. He enjoyed dancing and was known as the " King de la Salsa " winning various prizes in the 8O's and 90's such as trophies, cash, and trips around the world.
Anyone who knew Guaso knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather brother, uncle, son, and friend a family could ask for. Guaso is preceded in death by his parents: Carmen Lydia Matta Melendez and Norberto Jurado; his siblings: Jose Alberto Jurado and Lydia Esther Otero.
Guaso fathered three children with Ana Louisa Moralez and later was married to and divorced Betty Lou Jurado.
