Johnny L. James was born on December 14, 1934 in Valdosta, GA to John P. James and Josephine (Montgomery) James. Johnny went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2020. He leaves behind former spouse, Pauline Johnson, 4 children and one son-in-law, Yolanda James, Gregory James, Roberta James-Brown (spouse Robert) and Brenda James, 6 grandchildren, Taisheema, Catherine, Franklin, Destiney, Diamonique and Limaye and 2 great grandchildren, Za'Niyah and Athen.
He also leaves his siblings and their spouses Florine Stacks (spouse Herman), Artie James (spouse Joan), Sarah James, Charles James (spouse Tina) and was predeceased by his siblings Mary (James) Green (spouse Rudolph), Marion James, Josephine (James) Sherry (spouse Luke) and Alfred James (spouse Florence). He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Johnny joined the Army right after high school and served in the military from January 7, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on January 20, 1961. He lived in Nashville, TN where he attended Fisk University and resided there until 1956. He moved to Hartford, Ct in 1956 where he resided and worked as a machinist for Pratt and Whitney and then worked for Hartford Steam Boiler as a Nuclear Boiler Inspector until he resigned to go into his own business.
His sense of humor, witty tongue, keen mind and crazy stories will be sorely missed.
