John F. Burney

John F. (Johnny) Burney Jr. 59 passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2024. He was born May 30, 1964 in Hartford, CT to the late Rose M. Franco (Sorbello) and John F. Burney Sr. He is predeceased by Mother Rose M. Franco (Sorbello) and Father John F. Burney Sr.,brothers Dominic M. Franco, Manual M. Franco and Robert Franco. 

Johnny is survived by daughters Ashley Hill and Rose Marie, girlfriend Krystal Marie Saverino and best friend of 30 years George Nicholson & family. He leaves Great Aunt Ella Taylor, Sisters Marjorie Isadore, FL, Sandra J. (Sandy) Burney, East Hartford, CT, Brenda L. Straker, Danielson, CT, Geraldine M Grady (Mark), New Britain, CT; brothers Charles R. Franco of East Hartford and Kenneth Vick, New York, NY. He was loved and survived by his oldest niece who he grew up with Shelly Franco McBride, nephew Antonio (Tony) Ayala Jr., nieces Michelle Burnett (Joseph) Naomi Resto, his Goddaughter Corrida Resto Barnes (Kemo) and niece Charlene Straker. Johnny leaves behind a host of cousins, family and friends who will miss him tremendously. 

Johnny was born and raised in Hartford, CT where he attended Hartford Public High School. He had a huge heart, worked hard and could fix anything. Through the years he was a free spirit and had an unforgettable presence. To know him is to love him. He never grew old and there was nothing that he was incapable of. He considered himself “Forever Young” and was indeed young at heart. There was a distinct sound that alerted people of his presence as he walked in a room or even into a space; The jingle of his keys as he kept them securely at his side. Uncle Johnny, as many called him, enjoyed food and lots of sweets. He also enjoyed traveling, cars and being with family. He played a large part in the lives of his nieces and nephews and will forever be remembered for that as well as the many laughs and great times spent together. 

Johnny will be remembered as we celebrate his life on Monday June 3, 2024 at All Faith Memorial Chapel 90 John Fitch Blvd. South Windsor, CT 06074. The Wake will be held at 11AM and the Funeral will follow at 12PM. Repast 1:30PM - 3:00PM Humacao Restaurant 775 SIlver Lane East Hartford, CT 06108. Family & Friends are welcome to attend.
