JoAnn (Rankin) Robinson

oAnn (Rankin) Robinson. Sunrise: April 26, 1940 – Sunset: December 5, 2023.  Born in Albany, GA to the late Milton and Gussie Rankin.  She was educated in the Hartford Public Schools system and graduated from Weaver High School.  JoAnn retired from Cigna after 37 years of service in the Employees Medical Department.  

A second generation member of Faith Congregational Church, UCC, JoAnn was known for her gifts of hospitality, executing church social functions with a sense of style and class. She was also a member of the church’s Quilting, Flower, and Birthday Card Ministry.

JoAnn had a classic sense of style for clothes and shoes and was often found styling her friends. She loved shopping and a good sale. In her leisure time, JoAnn enjoyed ski trips with her Cigna colleagues, reading, search-word puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. 

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Jennifer Marie Robinson of Manchester, CT, siblings Carl (Lorrie) Rankin of South Windsor, CT, Charles “Butch”Rankin of Columbia, SC, and Gail (A. Lee) Martin of Bloomfield, CT.  Besides her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brothers Paul and James Rankin.  JoAnn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, a goddaughter, Roxanne Gill, and a host of family and friends.  Thank you to all the doctors and nurses from Hartford Hospital, UConn Medical Center, and Kimberly Hall South who aided in JoAnn’s care throughout the years. 

Funeral services will be on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Faith Congregational Church, 2030 Main Street, Hartford, CT.  Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Following the service, there will be a repast in Faith’s Fellowship Hall. JoAnn will be buried during a private interment with family and friends.
