Jenell Granville Obituary

Jenell Granville 74, departed this life Sunday June 25th, 2022 at home, surrounded by prayer, love and family. She was born in Hartford, CT on February 14th, 1948 to the late John Sharp Holliday and the late Carrie (Dunn) Holliday. Jenell was predeceased by her husband Daniel Lee Granville who was her pride and joy. Siblings: Arthur Holiday, Annie Holiday, David Holiday, Jarvis Holiday, Gay Sheryl Jones and Clifford Sharp.  

She received her education through the Hartford School System, and additional education through Hartford Secretarial School. She worked for Aetna as an insurance adjuster and The Hartford Seminary as a secretary for many years. 

Jenell was a devoted member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church before she became ill. Jenell served as a member of the Trustee Board, and The Hospitality Team. Her true passion was cooking and catering delicious meals whether it was in the church or throughout the community. Jenell was a lover of many people, she did not fear anything or anyone, she spoke her mind whether anyone asked for it or not. Jenell also loved music; she enjoyed listening to gospel, R&B, and jazz. 

Jenell devoted her life to her children and family. She will always be celebrated, loved and cherished by her beautiful children daughters: Deborah Holiday-Thompson, Jasmine Granville, Markitta Granville, Veresa Granville, Faith Granville, and Destiny Granville all of Hartford, Connecticut, sons: John Holiday Sr of Austin, Texas, Daryl Granville of New Britain, Connecticut, Daniel Granville, and Johnathan Granville of Hartford, Connecticut. She was the grandmother of 15 and great grandmother of 8. Goddaughters: Shenora Howard, Na Keisha Click-Harris, Akima George,and Godson: Marcus Walker. She is also survived by two sisters, Rose Marie Sandiford and Carolynn (Victor) Zaccono, and a brother Andrew Holliday Sr. Long time devoted friends Barbara Anderson Berger, Mae Tyson, and Gayle.
