Ida Mae McFadden of Hartford, CT passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born April 19th, 1931 in Olanta, South Carolina. She moved to Charleston, SC and lived there until relocating to Hartford CT in 1968. She was the last of her 12 siblings. She was a hard-working mother and raised her children with morals and respect. She worked at the Institute of Living for 25+ years before retiring.
Her passion was cooking, especially ribs and rice, collard greens and smothered pork chops. And her favorite desserts to make was applesauce nut cake and banana pudding. She enjoyed feeding her sons friends and others in the neighborhood. Ida was also a fan of baseball, football and wrestling. She would be at all her sons sporting events cheering them on. She also supported her daughter who was an avid Double Dutch jumper. Later in life she began a hobby of painting small pictures. She enjoyed being in the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were always there to help her when needed, especially Alexus.
She will be truly missed by her friends at the St. Monica’s Senior Housing.
She is survived by her sons Perry and Mozallen (Al) McFadden, and her precious daughter Minona Renee McFadden. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sean, Shomari, Catherine, Paul, LaToiya, Camille, Perry Jr., Johnathan, Kerry, and Tinnika, and her great-grandchildren Alexus, Tiana, Caydence, Carter, Janessa, Julissa, Jaliyah, Mia, Lucas, Luna and Zarha. She is predeceased by two sons Wesly and Jasper McFadden.
