Helen Lee Obituary

Helen Sanders Lee was born on September 12 to the late James Sanders and Annie Sanders in Fort Pierce, FL. She was the oldest of thirteen siblings. 

A lifelong resident of Hartford, CT, she retired from UCONN School of Dental Medicine after more than 35 years of service. She was a devoted member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she served as an active member of Discipleship Training, Food Pantry Soup Kitchen, Seniors on the Move and Sunday School. She also served in various community and faith based organizations in the city of Hartford in which she was a lifetime member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Woman’s Club. Inc.  

Quietly on Sunday, December 20, 2015 Helen departed this life at St. Francis Hospital. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry A. Lee Sr., two sisters Dorothy Washington and Mable Johnson and two brothers John Henry Sanders and Herman Sanders. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to four sons, Harry Lee Jr., Brian (Virginia) Lee, William and Kenneth Lee, seven grandchildren Shawna (Jazman) Lee-Paul, Jason, Brian, Aaron, Harry III, Kenisha and KeAndre Lee and two great grandchildren Ta’Lyia and Ta’Jayia Lee. She leaves behind four sisters Mary Bright, Lula Owens, Teresia and Daisy Sanders, four brothers James, Willie, Earnest and Tommie Sanders, two sister-in-law’s Christine (Robert) Bolden and Mary Ballard and one brother-in-law John Lee and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends Roxy Hill, Delores Lambert, Frances Major and future great grandson Braxton Lee Paul.
