Franklin “Frank” Mitchell, 92, of Bloomfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 4, 1933, in Hartford, Connecticut, Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Juanita Mitchell; his parents, Lula and George Mitchell; and his siblings: Earl, Andrew, Eugene, and Edward Mitchell, Estelle Springer, Lillian Moorehead, Georgia Wilkins, Pauline Byrden, and Anna Terry.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Frances Wiggins, and son-in-law, Allen Wiggins; his grandchildren, Melissa Wiggins and Jason Wiggins; and his great-grandchildren, Arriyana Spence and Jayla Wiggins. He also leaves behind a host of loving relatives, including nieces, nephews, and his brother-in-law, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Frank was employed for many years by the Hartford School System and retired from the Athletics Department at Buckley High School. He took great pride in working with the youth, mentoring and encouraging generations of students. A family man through and through, he cherished family gatherings and found joy in simply being surrounded by loved ones. In his younger years, he enjoyed Saturdays with friends, cruising through town and enjoying life’s simple moments.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Kathy, Robyn, Kelly, and the entire Trinity Health and Hospice team for their compassion and support during this transitional period.
A memorial service to honor Frank’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM at All Faith Memorial Funeral Home in South Windsor, Connecticut.
Frank will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
