Fitzroy Reid Obituary

Fitzroy Damien “Fitz / Debo / D” Reid

Fitzroy Damien Reid—affectionately known as “Fitz,” “Debo,” and “D”—was born on June 8, 1989, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, to his loving parents Joan Reid and Fitzroy Campbell. From the moment he entered this world, Fitzroy carried a bold spirit, a vibrant personality, and a resilience that shaped the remarkable man he became.

Raised in Hartford, Connecticut, Fitzroy attended Hartford-area schools and grew into a young man known for his humor, creativity, and deep loyalty. Connecticut became home—the place where he built lifelong friendships, strong roots, and a legacy anchored in love, perseverance, and faith.

Fitzroy was the proud father of Faith, Jamir, Aaliyah, Maddison, and Maddox—his heart, his joy, and his greatest accomplishments. Everything he fought for, everything he endured, and everything he dreamed of centered around his children.

On October 9, 2023, Fitzroy married the love of his life, Jessica Padilla-Reid, and together they created a union defined by covenant, devotion, and unbreakable commitment. Their love was unmistakable—they were inseparable. They loved matching outfits, matching energy, and matching spirit. They fought for one another, prayed for one another, and continually pushed one another to grow.

Jessica was not only his wife; she was his great help—his comfort, his strength, and his safe place. She loved him deeply and cared for him selflessly. She wiped every tear, tended to every need, cleaned him, lifted him, and carried him through moments that would break the strongest of people. She stepped into a role many could not endure, yet she embraced it with grace, faith, and unwavering love. Their marriage was a testimony of unity, loyalty, and love that stands unshaken even in death.

Fitzroy is survived by his mother Joan Reid-Kelly and his loving siblings: Krystal Edwards, Oneil Campbell, Camille Carter, Sasha Campbell, Fitzroy Campbell, Jazlyn Knight, Angel Padilla, Williams Padilla, and Angel Rodriguez. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren, all of whom loved him dearly and were deeply impacted by his presence. His family tree stretches wide, and each branch carries memories of his laughter, kindness, and strength.

He shared a meaningful and cherished relationship with his mother-in-law, Milda Perez, who embraced him as a son.

On November 26, 2025, Fitzroy transitioned peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital with Jessica faithfully by his side. For three years, Fitzroy fought with extraordinary courage. Though doctors predicted six months, he defied every expectation and every odd. Even when the pain grew severe and the climb became steep, Fitzroy never let go of his faith. He placed his life in God’s hands and held on to the promise of eternal rest and healing.

That promise is now fulfilled.

Fitzroy was an artist at heart—creative, expressive, and passionate. He loved to dance, laugh, and bring joy into every room he stepped into. With the humor of a natural comedian, he could shift the entire atmosphere with one joke, one look, or one perfectly timed comment. His presence was magnetic, and his laughter unforgettable.

He will forever be remembered by the countless lives he touched—family, friends, and all those blessed to know him. His courage strengthened others. His faith inspired many. His love left a permanent mark.

Cancer did not take Fitzroy—God received him. Cancer did not end his story—God completed it. His suffering has ended, and his eternal life has begun. Today, Fitzroy is healed. He is whole. He is home.

As the Word of God declares:
“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8

Fitzroy Damien Reid—Fitz, Debo, D—will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, loyal brother, faithful friend, pillar of strength, and relentless fighter. His life was a gift. His legacy is love. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
