Edward Blue of Bloomfield, CT and Southern Pines, NC joined his parents, Claude and Vera and his eldest daughter, Pamela Michele on the morning of Monday, May 5, 2014.
A faithful servant of the AME Zion Church and life member of both Trinity AME (NC) and Metropolitan AME Zion (CT), Edward served from 1949 to 1951 in the US Army as a military policeman moving to Hartford in 1955 and Bloomfield in 1959. Edward retired after 39 years of service with the Hartford Electric Light Company (Northeast Utilities) and returned to Southern Pines in 1997 where he resided until 2013 returning to Bloomfield.
To cherish his memory, Edward leaves his wife, Jane, daughter Alicia (Ray O. Glass), brother, Robert Blue (Hyacinth) of FL; sisters, Martha Johnson of NC and Delores Sellars (Bernest) of VA; an aunt, Gertrude Alexander of NC, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special caretaker, Steph’enalexis Smalls.
A wake will be held Thursday, May 8, 6-7 pm at Metropolitan AME Zion, 2084 Main Street, Hartford, CT. Funeral services will be May 14, at Trinity AME Zion, Southern Pines, NC with interment in Pinelawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation. All Faith Memorial Chapel, 90 John Fitch Blvd, So. Windsor, CT are in charge of arrangements.
