Dorothy Evans Lucier

Dorothy (Evans) Lucier, 83, of Hartford, CT transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday,

August 9, 2023.

She was born in Savannah, GA on December 25, 1939 to the late Fred B. Evans and Willie Mae

(Rakestraw) Evans.

Dorothy worked for the U.S Postal Service in the early part of her adulthood, was one of the

original staff members at ADRC in Hartford and remained for 14 years until becoming a

paraprofessional within the Hartford school system where she retired. Dorothy also served her

country honorably in the Reserve Women’s Army Corps, completing basic training at Ft.

Jackson, SC.

Dorothy was known for her love of the holidays, baking exceptional cakes, having a closet that

was her "quick gift store", and her love and loyalty to the the alumni of Robert Smalls school and

the community of Beaufort, SC.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers William A. Evans (Ruth, deceased) and Louis B.

Evans (Christine). She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Carlon Lucier Taylor

and her son Marc Harold Lucier (Jacqui), her grandchildren Rayna Lucier Rawls (Maurice),

Peyton I. Lucier, Kayla Young, Nev Lucier-Reynoso (Sy) and her great granddaughter Zora J.

Rawls. She is also survived by her siblings Dr. Walter O. Evans (Linda) and Jacqueline Brandon

(Eddie, deceased), her close cousin Lucille Evans Johnson (Amos) and a host of devoted

nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at Shiloh Baptist

Church, 350 Albany Avenue, in Hartford. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
