Deacon Russell T. Ruth, Sr.

Deacon Russell T. Ruth, Sr., 76, of Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He entered the world on June 12, 1944 in Union, South Carolina, his parents were the late Eliza Mae Ruth and Thomas Ruth, Sr. 

Russell was the loving husband to Geneva Ruth. They celebrated 58 years of marriage in June 2020. Russell grew up in Union, SC and during his young adult life he relocated his family to Hartford, CT. Upon arrival in CT, Russell went on to be employed by Stanadyne for 41 years, which he successfully retired as a Lead Machinist. Russell was a devoted Father, Papa, Great Grandfather, Brother, and loving Uncle. As a dedicated member of New Hope Christian Ministries, he was the chairman of the Deacon Board. Russell was very faithful, compassionate and committed to the teachings of the Bible. Russell was also very devoted to his family and friends; he was always reliable and ready to help. Russell’s kindness and love of helping people has been witnessed by many. He touched multiples lives by being consistent, treating others with kindness, being supportive, andgoing out his way to open his home and heart to those in needs. He often bestowed wisdom and encouragement upon his family and friends. He was someone who was well versed on a variety of subjects. He enjoyed fishing,traveling, experiencing different cultures, reading, cooking, “taking rides” with his family and friends and teaching those around him. Russell’s legacy as a hero and Papa Ruth will be remembered by many. Russell was one of a kind and will be missed.

Russell leaves to commemorate his journey home, his wife Geneva Ruth, his five children: Lorri Adgers of East Hartford, CT, Russell (Sharon) Ruth, Jr. of Amherst, MA, Timothy Ruth of Gaffney, SC, Tasha Ruth and Kesha Ruth of Bloomfield, CT, Eight grandchildren: Eddie Adgers Jr., Cheri Ruth, Shaquanda Adgers (Anthony), Brielle, Aldyn, and Tre Ruth, Tayla Moore, and Aeriel Williams; two great grandsons: Anthony and Aiden Wilson; three sisters: Bessie Brannon of Union, SC, Rose Walker of Hartford, CT, Annie Good, of Aliquippa, PA; five brothers: Billy (Crystal) Ruth of Manchester, CT, Columbus (Deloris) Ruth ofCharlotte, North Carolina, Thomas (Sylvia) Ruth of Aliquippa, PA, Willie (Patricia) Ruth of Union, SC, and James (Ann) of Union, SC; one brother-in-law Robert Jefferies of Gaffney, SC; two sisters-in-law: Sara Sue Jefferies and Lucille Crawford of Jonesville, SC; four godchildren: Ethel Mae Crawford of Jonesville, SC, Naima Alexander of New Britain, CT, Sandra Vermont- Hollis and Saige Hollis of Hartford, CT. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews in addition to family and friends.
