Obituary

David Wayne Duncan, 66, of Hartford, Connecticut beloved father, and grandfather departed this life on February 22, 2023 at Hartford Hospital.

David was born on October 22, 1956 in Hartford, Connecticut to Gladys Duncan of Ideal, Ga and the late Clifford Douglas of Bloomfield, CT. David was educated in the Windsor School System, and shortly after graduating relocated to New York City, where he would meet his life partner Bonita Mack, and together they would have one son David Wayne Mack. David worked as a messenger in New York City for many years, and after moving back to Connecticut was a truck driver for Bob’s Discount Furniture. After leaving Bob’s Discount Furniture, David became a licensed electrician and was self employed for many years. David was also an advocate lover of golf, and this love and passion pushed him to volunteer at Gillette Ridge Golf Club for the past fifteen years. But what David loved most was his family. Nothing made him happier than seeing them happy, and spending all his time with them. 

David is survived by his mother Gladys Duncan (Rev. Alexander) of Vero Beach, and life partner Bonita Mack of Hartford, CT. He is also survived by his two sons David Wayne Mack, and Darryl Mack both of Hartford, CT, and his stepdaughter Joycelyn Mack of Hartford, CT. His ten grandchildren Kareem Mack Sr., Michiko Mack, Akaylia Mack, Michael Mack, Jocara Mack-Duncan, Jaylyn Mack-Duncan, London Mack-Duncan, David Mack Jr., Amellia Mack, and Aniyah Mack all of Hartford, CT. His four great-grandchildren Kareem Mack Jr., Kali Mack-Bell, Karter Mack-Duncan, and Choyce Williams of Hartford, CT. Sister Gloria Duncan Norfolk, VA, and brothers Carlvin Duncan (Li’Tanya) Hartford, CT, Warren Duncan San Francisco, CA. David also leaves his uncle Clyde Ogburn of South Windsor, CT  niece Erika Duncan of Hartford, CT, and nephews Gregory Duncan of Pontiac, MI, Carlvin Duncan, and Erik Duncan both of Hartford, CT. David also leaves a host of other nieces, nephews and relatives. David is predeceased by his grandmother Emma Jean Gouch-Ogburn, father Clifford Douglas, sister Leona Marie Duncan, and nephew Andre H. Duncan.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 6, 2022, from 10AM-11AM for the viewing followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at All Faith Memorial Chapel, 90 John Fitch Boulevard., South Windsor CT. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
