Darrell Balancier was born on January 2, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York to the late
Robert Balancier, Jr. and Dolores Hughes Balancier. Darrell was the sixth born of seven
children. In April of 1970, the family relocated to Louisiana.
Darrell completed most of his education in Slidell, Louisiana. He was a
handsome young man with a beautiful smile and a determined, fun-loving spirit. He
loved playing baseball, football, boxing, and spending time with his family. Darrell was a
great lover of music. His favorite artist was Bob Marley. He preferred to hang out with
the older children in the neighborhood. Once he set his mind to do something, he could
not be stopped! Rumor has it he was driving at the age of fourteen.
In 1990 Darrell relocated from New York to Connecticut, where he worked as a
professional painter. Shortly after arriving, he met and fell in love with Shelly Brown
Balancier, who he wed in holy matrimony on August 10, 2010. Their union resulted in a
loving blended family, which consists of three beautiful daughters, Shara Chambers,
Amber Dumas, and Shadrika Brown.
Darrell departed this life on July 18, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents
Robert Balancier, Jr. and Dolores Hughes Balancier, his sister Desiree Balancier, and
his daughter Shara Chambers.
