Crystal René Kelly, age 58, died at home on Friday, April 21, 2017 after battling a long illness. Born September 29, 1958 to Anna and Sinclair Jennings, Sr. Crystal lived in Connecticut for most of her life, spending the last 30 years in East Hartford. Crystal was a graduate of Bloomfield High School Class of 1976 and the University of Connecticut Class of 1980. Crystal worked for the Supreme Court for over 20 years before retiring in 2009. In the 1990’s Crystal became an active member of her East Hartford community working alongside the East Hartford Police Department to ensure safety in her community. Crystal also was a founding member of the Books Build Bridges Program, which helped to rebuild libraries in the Hartford Public School System. Crystal spent time with her children supporting them with their education and extra-curricular activities. Crystal enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her family. Crystal was a woman of grace, generosity, kindness, and love. She loved people and was a woman of God. Crystal was a woman who was 1000% dedicated to her family. Crystal is survived by her devoted husband and the love of her life for over 40 years, Michael Kelly; daughters, LaDawn Butler (Elijah), Keosha Thomas , Milan Kelly, Maya Kelly, and Brieanna Cave; grandchildren Charlynn, Ahsile, Sarah-Jean, Diaszha, Kiana, Jayla, Elijah, and Donovan; brothers Maurice Jennings, Ralph Jacobs (Cindi), Jared Jennings; sisters Cynthia Jennings, Lorrie Ann Green (Keith), Jeanette Jennings; sister-in-law Jannett Jennings; brothers-in-law George Kelly (Nereida), Bobby Kelly (Diana), Dwayne Kelly (Vanessa), Trevon Kelly (Gail); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many "satellite children". Crystal was predeceased by her parents Anna and Sinclair Jennings; siblings Gerald, Robin, and Sinclair Jennings, Jr.; brothers-in-law John Kelly, Jr. and Vernon Kelly. Funeral service will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017. Calling hours will begin at 10:00AM at St. John’s Full Gospel Deliverance Church 27 Brown Street Bloomfield CT. Repast will follow immediately after the service at St. John’s Full Gospel Deliverance Church. The Kelly family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during their bereavement.
