Claret worked in the nursing industry for over 30 years, holding positions at Burgdorf Health Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital before she retired. She was an accomplished seamstress, baker, and wedding cake designer. She also crocheted items such as blankets and scarves frequently providing gifts of warmth.
Claret Lemonious is survived by her four daughters and one son; Mervelle Lee, Baron Samuels, Maria Douet and husband Shorney Sr. of CT, Lisa Edwards of New York, and Fae Edwards of North Carolina. Also her niece Jacqueline Harrison and husband Gladstone of New York, and her 3 children Georgia Lowell and her husband Leroy, Juliet Jacobs, and Derrick Jacobs. Additionally, Claret is survived by her sister Mellis David-Feveck and her husband Ted in England.
She also leaves 16 grandchildren including Joshua Edwards-Blakley, Matthew Edwards-Blakley, Jonathan Edwards-Blakley, Baron Samuels, Devonte Samuels, Brandon Samuels, Makayla Samuels, Antonio Crawley, Paris Douet, Shorney Douet Jr, George Ledbetter, Mishawna Small and husband Reginald, Lacheya Edwards, Jamira Rodgers, Rachina McCoy, Saeed Shakir and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by Beryll Edwards, Cellhope Cain, and Janet Edwards. She will be greatly missed. Interment will be in Jamaica.
