Clara Nell Hyde

Clara Nell Hyde, 82, of Bloomfield, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She entered the world on May 22, 1941, in Wayne County, MS to the late Johnny Clarence and the late Beatrice Gray.

Clara graduated from Riverview High School in Waynesboro, MS. She moved to Hartford, CT in the 1960’s and worked for J.M. Ney for several years. She retired from Pratt and Whitney after working there for 27 years. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, watching sports and her favorite game shows (Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy). She was a trophy winning bowler; She also enjoyed doing puzzles, arts and crafts and playing Bingo. She had a love for children as well.

When she relocated to Hartford, CT, she became a member of Welcome Baptist Church (Victory Cathedral) until her health began to fail. She cooked dishes for various church functions such as the salad spread.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Angela Blue; three sisters, Bonnie Gray (Larry), Vernice Arrington of Bloomfield, CT and Mary Helen McGill (Willie) of Heidleberg, MS; a grandson, Andre Blue of Bloomfield, CT; special nieces, Ethel Cobb of Hartford, CT, April Gray-Pamphile of Bloomfield, CT, Wilhemina and Cassandra Arrington of Ellenwood, GA; a special nephew, Carlos Gray of Bloomfield, CT; goddaughters, Tanya Hampton Dawkins of Nashville, TN and Christa Canty of Durham, NC; a bonus son, Alan Davis of Loganville, GA; a bonus daughter, Nikki Gee of Hartford, CT and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Aaron Gray, Benjamin Gray, Nathaniel Gray and Alvin Gray, sisters, Mary Esther Morgan and Elnora R. Gray, brother-in-law, McArthur Arrington and her special friend, Edward Gee.
