Carl Green Johnson

Carl G. Johnson, 76, of Hartford, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Feb 4, 2021 with family by his side after a courageous battle against lung cancer.  Born on Feb 19, 1944 in Monticello, GA to Willie B. & Sarah Johnson. 

He later moved to Hartford to CT in 1968 where he worked for Otis Elevator and various manufacturing companies. He was hired by Hartford Transit formally Dial-A-Ride for several years until he retired. He enjoyed cooking soul food and fishing trips with his buddies.  He was an avid spades and solitaire player.

He was known as “Uncle Carl” to everyone who knew him regardless if they weren’t family.

He was charismatic and loved to laugh and have fun. He was a sharp dresser and was rarely seen without a toothpick in his mouth. 

Carl leaves to mourn his two sons Carl Johnson of Hartford, CT and Aaron Simpson of Texas.  His grandson Christopher Simpson of Texas. Three sisters Dorothy Johnson,  Ivah Card and Frances Jackson all of Monticello, GA and a brother Gus Johnson and his wife (Willie Mae) of Atlanta GA. Three sisters-in-laws, Sallie Johnson of Bloomfield, CT, Lillie Johnson and Minnie Holloway both of Hartford, CT

He is predeceased by his wife Francine Holloway-Johnson and daughter Carla Johnson. His parents Willie B. and Sarah Johnson.  Sister Ella M. Gordon, and three brothers Willie J. Johnson, Leroy Johnson and Johnny Johnson.  An abundance of nieces, nephews and friends naming two remarkably close friends of 53 years JD and Gene. Also his devoted two nieces Codele and Tamara and great nephews who were his caretakers until his death.
