Brea Williams Obituary

Brea Williams was born on Thursday, May 2, 1996 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Her mother and father, Johnette Crawford and Byron Williams, SR, eagerly welcomed their third child and second daughter.  As the youngest in the household, Brea always enjoyed the love (and pranks) of both her older sister and older brother.  Brea was a lifetime resident of Harford and attended Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and High School INC.  Brea took tremendous pride in loving, caring for, and raising her three children—Bri’elle, Terrelle, and Adri’elle—and talking about them and being with them brought her great joy.

Anyone who met Brea knows that she had a contagious smile, a thunderous laugh, and a love for life that inspired.  Words can only begin to capture how uplifting it was to be in Brea’s presence.  Outgoing, loyal, courageous, non-judgmental, supportive, inquisitive, out-spoken, funny, and witty are just some of the words that readily come to mind when thinking about interactions, conversations, and debates with Brea.  As a lover of trivia, Brea would not hesitate to ask anyone (her mother especially) question after question to get the answer she was looking for to make the person being questioned laugh (without giving a correct answer).  Her willingness to ask questions also allowed her to make new friends easily and her outgoing personality put people at ease when they talked with her.

Brea enjoyed social gatherings, especially cookouts! If the opportunity for a cookout presented itself, Brea would take it; if the opportunity didn’t present itself, Brea would make it!  Brea truly loved getting together with family, and would invite herself (and others) over to her mother’s house to display her culinary talents.  In addition to being an excellent cook in the kitchen, Brea could grill the most flavorful chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers on the outdoor grill.  Brea also knew that she could not pull off a good cookout without proper hydration; so she also shared her mixology skills with the people she loved, and knew how to mix up the most refreshing “non-soft drink” you could imagine!

Brea also loved music and would sing a song she loved at any time and would encourage friends and family to participate by making it a sing-a-long.  When Brea was not listening to music or singing it, she enjoyed watching The Vampire Diaries.  With a favorite color of purple, Brea enjoyed dressing for whatever the occasion; from casual to athletic to dressy, Brea prided herself on being among the best dressed.

On Saturday, May 14, 2022, Brea unexpectedly yet peacefully transitioned to eternal rest/eternal life. While family, friends, and loved ones are still in shock by her sudden transition, Brea’s positive attitude and love for life will give everyone who knew her and loved her something to smile about.  Life won’t be the same without Brea, but we are grateful for the joy her bright smile brought, and the legacy she has left through Bri’elle, Terrelle, and Adri’elle.

She is survived by: her mother Johnette Crawford (BC Ruffin, III) (East Hartford, CT); father Byron Williams, Sr. (Hartford, CT); two daughters and one son: Bri’elle James, Adri’elle James, Terrelle James (Hartford, CT); sister: Brandy Williams (Manchester, CT);  brother: Byron Williams, Jr. (Hartford, CT); sister Blayzah Graham (Hartford, CT); her children’s grandfather Allen Camby (aka Butch) (Hartford, CT); (maternal grandparents Carol Williams (Hartford, CT ) and John Crawford (Hartford, CT ); paternal grandparents Shirley Williams (Hartford, CT) and LeRoy Williams, SR. (Miami, FL); aunts: Tanika Clarke (Hartford, CT); Carolyn Clarke (Hartford, CT); Latoya Clarke (Hartford, CT) and Ericka Williams (Manchester, CT); uncles: LeRoy (Candace) Williams, Sr. (Hartford, CT); Neville Clark (Hartford, CT); John Williams (Hartford, CT) and Steven Williams (Hartford, CT ); nieces Iyanna Douglass (Manchester, CT) and Sekani Williams (Hartford, CT); and nephews Mahzari Williams and Byron Williams, III (Hartford, CT). Finally, she leaves a host of other relatives, (great) aunts and uncles, (first and second) cousins, and friends who will forever remember her love, life, smile, and legacy.  She was preceded in death her aunts, LaFondra Williams and Nichole Williams.
